It has been six weeks since my last post and during that time we have experienced no less than six major life events. I hope to not go so long between posts from here on out, but as you will soon see, I’ve been a bit on the busy side.
If you read my most recent post (you know the one in which I promised to write a Part 2 – which is not gonna happen), I was in North Carolina for the birth of our fourth grandchild and our very first grandson, Fisher! That was actually the second event though. Before I get ahead of myself, here are the major events, in order of occurrence. Drumroll please….
His birthday somehow consisted of two parties. The main one was the weekend prior, since I had to fly to NC the weekend after. Carrot cake! The decorations stayed up all week though so we could celebrate again on his actual birthday. He had Key Lime Pie on his “real” birthday. Let’s just say he was well fed before I left to fly to NC for 2.5 weeks.
EVENT #2 – My (Pamela’s) trip to NC to see my other granddaughters and meet my grandson, Fisher!
Welcome to the world. At just 1 oz. shy of 10 lbs when born he is a big, beautiful baby!
I got to see his first smile too! Event 2.5!
Here are all three siblings. Sereia is on the left, Nai’a is on the right, and Fisher is the “Little Brother” in the middle. I love them!!!
While there I was able to spend a great deal of quality (and quantity) time with my granddaughters. We had a blast! I stayed with them for 17 days and thoroughly enjoyed the time I was able to spend with them. They are my heart! I see lots more FaceTime in my future.
EVENT #3 – Thanksgiving!
I have hardly any pictures of the day as the new mom was recovering from surgery and the new dad was exhausted! I prepared the traditional Thanksgiving meal for everyone. (Gluten free, of course.) We didn’t get any pictures of the turkey or the meal itself, but for some reason I took this shot as I was enjoying being able to cook so many dishes at once in their huge oven! (My home RV oven is… err… much smaller than this.)
J.Jay drove up from Furman to see Fisher and spend Thanksgiving with us. So here is Uncle J.Jay with his nephew.
I just think this is the cutest picture, taken on Thanksgiving Day. Sereia trying to kiss Nai’a, but Nai’a clearly doesn’t want her too! Lol
Her birthday was actually a few days before I returned, so we celebrated it the day after I got back!
Who says you can’t decorate on a 5th wheel?!?!
She wanted a “big girl” haircut (I think Grandpa had been convincing her to get one during my absence.) So after getting her mom’s permission, I took her for a shoulder length bob. She loves it; it looks adorable on her; and it seriously fits her spunky personality.
EVENT #5 – We flew our third kiddo/middle son, J.Jay in from college for Christmas!
I don’t know who was happier to see J.Jay – Elijah or Saylor. Actually, I do know. It was DEFINITELY Elijah! They may be almost 6 years apart in age, but they have always been very close.
We were able to get a Christmas family photo that included J.Jay! We had a full tiny house this year!
EVENT #6 – CHRISTmas!!!!! Our first full-timing Christmas in our 5th wheel.
Our first and my favorite tiny tree. It was a real tree and smelled and looked beautiful. Greg said it was too dry though and was a fire hazard so he took it down. Wahhhhh….
Our second tree is on the side table and you can hardly see it. It’s okay though as I didn’t really like it that much. Saylor liked it, so that’s what matters. Next year I want a real tree that Greg approves of! He can pick it out. 😉
I put fake snow on the side tables and used this area for our presents. You can see presents on the other side table in the previous photo.
The stockings are stuffed!
Ham, Rosemary & Bacon Mashed Potatoes, Green Bean Casserole, Creamy Corn Casserole, Cheesecake, and Rolls (not shown). All gluten free and prepared with love in the propane stove of our tiny kitchen. I can cook/bake absolutely anything in my rolling home just as good as I could back in our S&B house.
Saylor decorating Christmas sugar cookies.
This is the only Christmas morning picture the boys will allow me to post as they are yet to be showered and “presentable”. Their Zelda wallets! This gift was a major hit.
Saylor is anxious to open all of her presents.
We spent Christmas at Palm Springs RV Resort in California this year. (Thousand Trails) It felt more like Christmas than I expected it to. For me it was reminiscent of how I grew up in South Florida. I remember as a kid going swimming on Christmas Day. And yes… we went swimming on Christmas Day. Check out the beautiful pool! Wouldn’t you?!?!?
Now you can see why I haven’t posted in a while. I’ve been busy!!!! Greg took the boys to tour Los Angeles, Malibu, and Hollywood today and then they are staying at a hotel close to the airport so he can drop J.Jay off for his flight back to Furman University tomorrow. I stayed home with Saylor so they could get some serious sight seeing in before he flies back home as it would have been too much for a six year old. I guess that’s major event #7! I was sad to have to say goodbye to J.Jay, especially a day early. I miss him already.
I am going to attempt to write some shorter travel journal type posts of specific places that we have visited and/or stayed at and post them during the next week or so. Please note though that the keyword here is attempt. My exhaustion from the 24/7ness of raising my granddaughter, Saylor, coupled with my multiple sclerosis tendency to exhaustion anyway, does not do much for my attempts to blog lately… but I will attempt it nonetheless! I want to do one on Joshua Tree National Park; one on Soledad Canyon RV Resort, that we stayed in for 5 weeks in Acton, California before coming to Palm Springs; one on the Palm Springs area; probably one on Vasquez Rocks State Park… and more. My goal is to get caught up on some of what we’ve seen and done these past six weeks. Keep an eye out!
